The Los Angeles Rams can’t forget about Phillip Dorsett, has become a secret weapon for the New England Patriots, during Super Bowl 53.

With Super Bowl 53 set to get underway in a few days, the Los Angeles Rams have plenty of reasons to feel confident in their chances of taking down the New England Patriots after looking at what the NFC champions had to overcome just to be in this position.

Between overcoming Todd Gurley dealing with a knee injury towards the end of the regular season to surviving the controversial ending in the NFC Championship, it’s been an interesting journey for the Rams this season, but they’re certainly not complaining.

Now, all eyes will be on Los Angeles to see how they matchup against a New England team loaded with talent on both sides of the football, especially on offense. Right away, the Rams know they will have their hands full trying to keep players like Julian Edelman and Sony Michel in check since the Patriots are fortunate enough to have plenty of options for Tom Brady to work with.

However, the one name that hasn’t been getting enough credit for New England on offense is Phillip Dorsett at wide receiver, who is finishing up his second season with the team.

As part of the deal that sent Jacoby Brissett to the Indianapolis Colts when Andrew Luck was dealing with a shoulder injury, the Patriots were able to get Dorsett as part of the trade.

For a former first-round pick, Dorsett hasn’t exactly been able to live up to the hype since joining the NFL in 2015 since he only has 95 catches over the last four seasons. But at least when it comes to stepping up in a big way as of late, Dorsett has been coming through for New England.

Just how important has Dorsett been? Well, the AFC Championship battle against the Kansas City Chiefs saw the former Miami star find the end zone for a third game in a row, as Dorsett has been able to take advantage of opposing defenses focusing most of their attention on other key players like Edelman.

Dorsett may not see as many targets as some of his other teammates on offense for the Patriots, but watching a surprise touchdown streak like this one certainly makes the team quite happy. In fact, this just looks like another prime example of no matter what player it is, Brady always seems capable of making them player, and Dorsett is arguably one of his latest examples.

Playing in the Super Bowl always results in certain players emerging out of nowhere to play some of their best football, and there’s nothing Dorsett would love more than to see his touchdown streak extend to four games with a solid performance against the Rams.

Hopefully, Los Angeles spends the next couple of days making sure they’re ready to go for stopping any attack New England throws their way, whether it happens to be Dorsett or someone else.

Otherwise, Super Bowl 53 could be a painful outing for the Rams on defense, but from an overall perspective in the postseason, the unit should feel confident about their chances of playing well.
