Dante Fowler hopes to continue coming up big for the Los Angeles Rams on defense to put them in better position to win Super Bowl 53.

All season, one of the biggest topics of discussion surrounding the Los Angeles Rams during their run to Super Bowl 53 has been all of the talent added on both sides of the football.

Early on in the offseason, the Rams made it clear they were in a win-now mode looking to take advantage of the current talent they had to work with, and in a few days Los Angeles will see if all these additions paid off.

From Brandin Cooks in the passing game to Ndamukong Suh on the defensive line, it’s been amazing to see all of the key moves made by the Rams to put them in the position of being one win away from winning Super Bowl 53.

With that being said, one of the moves that doesn’t seem to get as much attention was the decision before the trade deadline to acquire former first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr. from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

To say Fowler’s NFL career got off to a poor start would be a huge understatement when taking into consideration that the former Florida suffered a torn ACL during his first day of mini-camp back in 2015.

Once Fowler was healthy enough to return, the linebacker certainly showed some potential over his next two NFL seasons with 12 sacks, but unfortunately he would end up taking a step back this season.

After recording just one sack to go along with eight combined tackles in seven games, Jacksonville was willing to move on from Fowler, and the best part is they made it real easy to trade for since all Los Angeles had to surrender was two future mid-round picks.

Right away, Fowler seemed to be a great fit for the Rams on defense after watching him start six of the eight games he played in while recording two sacks during the regular season.

Not to mention, Fowler came up big as well when it mattered the most by recording 1.5 sacks in two playoff games before Sunday’s showdown with the New England Patriots.

To go from being one of the most disappointing teams from 2018 in the Jaguars to a potential Super Bowl winner as a member of the Rams has been quite an amazing journey for Fowler this season. And while the linebacker’s attention at the moment is focused on winning this Sunday, discussion is already heating up about Fowler possibly being around for the long run.

Obviously at the right price, the Rams would most likely be willing to bring Fowler back since this low risk turned out to be a high reward for the defense. Plus, if Fowler continues to play at a high level in the Super Bowl to help Los Angles earn the win, it’s only going to make the team want him even more for the long run.

Fowler is the perfect example of just because things don’t work out with one team doesn’t mean all hope should be lost since a fresh start with the Rams already looks like the best thing to happen to his career.

Assuming he comes through once again by helping the defense apply constant pressure towards Tom Brady throughout Super Bowl 53, Los Angeles may not be able to avoid awarding Fowler with a new deal in the offseason, which is completely fine for the defense.
