The Los Angeles Rams lost another assistant under Sean McVay after Zac Taylor agreed to become the new head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals.
Since the Los Angeles Rams can officially begin their offseason following their embarrassing 13-3 loss to the New England Patriots during Super Bowl 53, it looks like the team will have to spend the net few days looking at potential replacements for Zac Taylor on the coaching staff.
As great as it can be to have all of the success the Rams have seen over the last two seasons since Sean McVay came on board, his coach tree has already expanded, as Taylor is the latest one to receive a promotion on a different team.
On Monday, the Cincinnati Bengals officially named Taylor their new head coach after the team finally made the overdue decision to move on from Marvin Lewis, who arguably was holding the team back from their true potential all these years.
Without question, Taylor is going to have his work cut out for him as the new head coach for the Bengals since the talent he’s going to have to work with is nowhere near the level of what he had with the Rams.
But as happy as McVay and company are to see their former quarterbacks coach receive the head coaching job in Cincinnati, this also puts Los Angeles in another tough position on offense, especially for Jared Goff.
Knowing McVay and his insane work ethic, the Rams coach should be able to find a solid replacement for Taylor since he realizes the importance of bringing on the best candidate to help Goff continue developing into a top NFL quarterback.
However, the one factor that stands out the most in regards to Taylor taking the job with the Bengals is how Goff will now be on his fourth quarterbacks coach in four season, as Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times pointed out.

While this may not seem like that big of a deal since Goff has been one of the players who has flourished under McVay’s system over the last two years, the loss of Taylor will still take some adjusting since the team will now need to focus on finding a replacement.
Goff will already be feeling a ton of extra pressure to succeed next season after the team’s disastrous performance in Super Bowl 53 to the Patriots, and the last thing Los Angeles can afford is to replace Taylor with someone who doesn’t click as much with the former No. 1 pick.
As mentioned before, the change to the staff with Taylor most likely won’t have that much of an impact for Goff running the offense, but also it’s still somewhat frustrating to see how the team will have to settle for a fourth quarterbacks coach in four seasons.
More than ever, the Rams will be facing a whole new level of pressure heading into the 2019 season after witnessing how things ended on Sunday when they scored just three points during the Super Bowl.
So while McVay and the rest of the team are obviously happy with Taylor, here’s to hoping his replacement actually sticks it out for at least a few years to avoid another situation like this next year.
