New Orleans Saints wide receiver took a shoot at the Los Angeles Rams for only scoring three points in Super Bowl 53 against the New England Patriots.
There’s no way to determine how different Super Bowl 53 would have been if the New Orleans Saints faced the New England Patriots instead of the Los Angeles Rams, but it sounds like Sean Payton’s squad won’t be over the NFC Championship any time soon.
Controversial call or not on that missed pass interference, there were plenty of other factors that played into the Rams coming out on top of the Saints to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl a little over two weeks ago, but the shots continue to come.
Take a look at Michael Thomas for instance, who absolutely torched Los Angeles during the regular season, only to be limited when it mattered the most in the NFC Championship game.
After catching 12 passes for 211 yards with a touchdown back in Week 9, Thomas was held to just four catches for 36 yards in the NFC Championship, showing how much of a difference the presence of Aqib Talib made on defense for the Rams.
Along with the rest of his teammates, Thomas was furious over the way things ended for New Orleans with that controversial non-call towards the end of the game, and it will be interesting to see what kind of approach the league takes this offseason to help address the issue.
Until then, it looks like Saints players, including Thomas, are going to continue to point out how they were the ones who deserved to be playing on the NFL’s biggest stage over the Rams, as Thomas certainly did during the Super Bowl.
In Thomas’ defense, the wideout isn’t wrong in calling Los Angeles out for only scoring three points during Super Bowl 53 since an offense with the weapons Jared Goff has to work with along with a reliable offensive line should have been able to put up at least a touchdown or two.
To watch the Rams overcome all of the obstacles they did this past season only to end things in one of the worst ways possible by only scoring three points during the Super Bowl was simply embarrassing, and there’s no other way to put it.
Even though it sounds tough to give Thomas credit for a tweet like this calling out the Rams inability to score against the Patriots, he’s not wrong about what what was said.
On another note, at least with the Saints scheduled to come to town during the 2019 season, at least the Rams can use this tweet as extra motivation to make sure they manage to defeat Thomas and the rest of his teammates.
