3 reasons a Case Keenum reunion with Los Angeles Rams in 2019 makes sense

2. Keenum more experienced than most backups
As bad as it sounds, Keenum may not have a choice when it comes to returning to the role of being a backup in the NFL since things didn’t work out well with the Broncos during the 2018 season, and it seems unlikely teams are going to want to bring him on to be their new starter.
While it’s tough to be too critical of Denver for rewarding Keenum with that hefty contract last season since there were a few teams expressing interest at the time, at least they’re moving on after only one season instead of giving it another go in 2019.
Some quarterbacks have to learn the hard way they’re better off as a backup instead of a starter, but also this shouldn’t take away from the experience factor that Keenum brings to the table since his previous success with the Vikings during the 2017 season shouldn’t be ignored.
One can only imagine the level of panic by the Rams if they ever found themselves in a situation where Goff was hurt, and their postseason fate fell into the hands of an inexperienced quarterback who couldn’t handle the pressure.
At least if Keenum were to return, this would make Los Angeles feel much better about their situation at backup quarterback, although the preference would obviously be they never get to this point by having Goff remain healthy.
