15. Washington Redskins: Daniel Jones, Quarterback, Duke

One can only imagine how different things would have been for the Washington Redskins this past season if Alex Smith didn’t suffer that devastating leg injury that has put his NFL career at risk. And as much as the Redskins want to wait around for him to get healthy enough to return one day, they know deep down the right move is to find someone new, whether it seems fair or not.

Up until Smith’s injury, Washington was considered one of the top teams to compete with in the NFC, and depending on who ends up being under center for the 2019 season, the team should feel confident about their chances to compete.

Even if the Redskins decide to go with a more experienced quarterback for at least a season or two, they could still look to this year’s draft for a potential quarterback of the future.

That’s where Duke’s Daniel Jones cold come into play, as the numbers may not stand out like some of the other quarterbacks from this year’s class, but there’s a reason why he’s projected to go in the first round.

Jones has received plenty of praise for his ability to read opposing coverage, but also the only chance this is going to work is if the Redskins provide him with the proper weapons to work with, meaning Washington better take advantage of free agency along with the draft.
