The Los Angeles Rams received three compensatory picks on Friday for the upcoming 2019 NFL Draft in April.

While most of the attention for the Los Angeles Rams is focused on the upcoming free agency period in March, the NFC champions received some not so surprising news on Friday in regards to the 2019 NFL Draft.

Over the last couple of years, the Rams have been one of the most discussed teams during the draft, mainly because of the fact they have traded their first-round pick in each of the last two seasons.

This time around, however, it looks like that Los Angeles will hang on to their first rounder, although knowing this team, nothing should be ruled out until they are officially on the clock.

At least with Friday’s news in regards to the compensatory picks, the Rams know they will have three extra selections as a result after earning two in the third round and one in the seventh round.

On paper, these draft picks may not seem like that big of a deal, but keep in mind just how many solid selections that Los Angeles has found over the last two years as a result of Sean McVay doing his homework, and it’s safe to say these picks could work wonders.

Take a look at McVay’s first draft in 2017 for example after the Rams landed two solid picks in the third round with Cooper Kupp and John Johnson III, showing just how valuable these mid-round picks can be.

Before Los Angeles knows it, this year’s draft will be here, and all of the months spent evaluating the necessary talent for the positions in need of improvement will hopefully pay off in the best way possible.

After earning a trip to the Super Bowl this past season before falling to the New England Patriots, expectations will be higher than ever for the Rams heading into 2019, as they will now be playing with a larger target on their backs as a top team to beat in the NFC.

Luckily, when looking at all of the talent Los Angeles has to work with on both sides of the football on top of the key moves expected to be made in free agency along with the draft, the Rams should feel confident in living up to the hype once again.

Plus, the Rams having one of the most favorable schedules will help build their case as well.
