3 potential free agent targets for Los Angeles Rams from Green Bay Packers in 2019
By Dan Parzych
2. Muhammad Wilkerson
In a surprise move last offseason, Muhammad Wilkerson was released by the New York Jets after seven seasons, which resulted in the Packers eventually signing the former first-round pick to a one-year deal.
Despite his production being on the decline in the previous two years leading up to 2018, Green Bay felt this move was worth the risk since New York didn’t exactly put him in the best position possible, and it wasn’t long ago (2015) in which he recorded 12 sacks in a single season.
One can only imagine how different things would have been for Wilkerson if it weren’t for that unfortunate ankle injury that put an end to his season early on after three games, but this doesn’t mean the Packers won’t consider giving him another shot.
Then again, as football fans know, there are no guarantees when it comes to the NFL, and if Green Bay decides to give up on their previous experiment in Wilkerson, there will be a handful of teams looking to sign the defensive tackle.
Could one of those teams end up being the Rams? Based off last season alone, if Los Angeles strongly believes Wilkerson could be a key part in helping them earn another trip to the Super Bowl, chances are they will take the risk, even after last season.
