3 potential free agent targets for Los Angeles Rams from Green Bay Packers in 2019
By Dan Parzych
1. Clay Matthews
A few years ago, Clay Matthews was considered one of the top linebackers in the league, and watching him record 42.5 sacks over his first four NFL seasons to go along with four trips to the Pro Bowl shows just how lucky the Packers were to have him on defense.
Unfortunately, players understand how the NFL is a business, and sometimes it doesn’t matter how long a certain individual has been with a team since the organization will always do what they feel is best.
With this in mind, there are some who strongly believe that after 10 seasons in Green Bay, Matthews could be in search of a new home for the 2018 season, and there will be plenty of teams expressing interest right away if this were to be the case.
Dating back to last season, the linebacker position was one of the weaker areas for Los Angeles, and while one of the biggest questions this offseason involves what to do with Dante Fowler Jr. at the position, Matthews would be a great addition as well.
Fowler certainly looked impressive after joining the Rams before the trade deadline, and was a key factor in the playoffs, but from an experience perspective, Matthews would have a huge advantage.
