1. Tyrann Mathieu

This time of year is always fun from a financial perspective to see what kind of ridiculous contracts certain players land from teams who don’t seem to be concerned at all by the money spent in free agency.

As for Tyrann Mathieu, the former Arizona Cardinals safety found himself in a difficult position last offseason after refusing to take a pay cut from the team, which is part of the reason why he would eventually be released before joining the Texans.

From a talent perspective, Houston seemed to be jumping for joy when Mathieu all of a sudden became available since over the last couple of seasons, the former LSU star had been displaying some of his best football.

After agreeing to a one-year deal with the Texans with the hope of landing a larger deal down the road, this offseason could be the payday Mathieu has been waiting for, as numerous teams will be trying to convince the safety to come on board to help fill their need on defense.

Does this mean the Rams would be willing to open up their checkbooks if given the opportunity? This may seem like a long shot at the moment, but with the chance to compete for a Super Bowl along with getting to face the Cardinals twice a year, Mathieu would be foolish not to at least explore this possibility.
