1. Chris Conte

Originally, the Rams seemed hopeful that one year under the franchise tag would help Lamarcus Joyner elevate his game to a higher level to potentially put the safety in position for a long-term deal down the road.

Instead, while there were times in which Joyner stood out for Los Angeles on defense, the argument can be made that he didn’t exactly live up to the hype compared to the money made through the tag.

As a result, it looks like the Rams will allow Joyner to test the open market in free agency, especially if he’s going to be looking for more money than Los Angeles is willing to pay.

If safety happens to be one of the positions the Rams focus on in free agency, Chris Conte seems worthy of keeping an eye on, despite suffering a torn PCL early on during the 2018 season.

Instead of being concerned over Conte returning to his normal ways on defense, Los Angeles should be focused on the kind of impact he would be able to make for the defense if he were to come on board.

More than ever, the Rams are going to be facing all sorts of pressure to earn another trip to the Super Bowl, meaning any help possible such as Conte or anyone else deserves serious consideration once Los Angeles can officially talk to potential signings.
