Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay claimed on Thursday that Todd Gurley wouldn’t have any surgeries or procedures on his knee this offseason.

It’s been weeks since the Los Angeles Rams suffered that embarrassing loss to the New England Patriots in which they failed to score a single touchdown, and the mystery surrounding what exactly was going on with Todd Gurley continues.

Towards the end of the regular season, Gurley missed the final two games while dealing with a knee injury that seemed to be really bothering him in Week 15 during that tough loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Luckily, the Rams had a favorable enough schedule in which they could afford to get by with C.J. Anderson filling in, and even when Gurley returned for the playoffs in the Divisional Round to face the Dallas Cowboys, there didn’t seem to be any concerns.

As Los Angeles fans know, this was anything but the case after Gurley would go on to see just four carries for 10 yards with a touchdown in the NFC Championship before only receiving 10 carries in the Super Bowl loss to the Patriots for a disappointing 35 yards.

Clearly, Gurley’s knee was a bigger issue than Sean McVay and the Rams were indicating, otherwise the Pro Bowl running back would easily be seeing 20+ carries in each of these contests.

Any healthy player with a workhorse mentality like Gurley has would be doing whatever needed to put his team in the best position possible to win big games like the NFC Championship and the Super Bowl.

Over time, Rams fans are hopeful they can receive some sort of explanation over what exactly was going on with Gurley in January and February. But on a positive note, at least whatever it was bothering Gurley, it looks like the running back isn’t scheduled to have any surgeries or procedures this offseason, at least as of now.

Maybe Lindsey Thiry is right, and it’s just time for Rams fans to accept the fact the only updates they’re going to get about what exactly was going on with Gurley is what Sean McVay has been saying all along these last couple of weeks.

At this point, the best thing Rams fans seem like they can do is hope that all goes well for Gurley this offseason recover from whatever was going on with his knee to make sure he bounces back even stronger for the 2019 season to help the team make another run at the Super Bowl.
