With the latest injury news surrounding Todd Gurley, here are five running backs the Los Angeles Rams should keep an eye on as insurance after their performances at the NFL Combine.

As Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams continue to evaluate the talent at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, fans received some surprising news Saturday morning in regards to Todd Gurley, who was dealing with a knee injury towards the end of the regular season and playoffs.

After resting the final two games of the regular season before returning to the Divisional Round to help the Ram defeat the Dallas Cowboys, Gurley’s knee injury seemed to be a thing of the past, that is until the following weekend took place.

Watching Gurley rush for only 10 yards on four carries and a touchdown against the New Orleans Saints was frustrating enough to see, but the Pro Bowl running back only rushing for 35 yards on 10 carries during Super Bowl 53 was inexcusable, that is unless something was wrong.

But that was the problem surrounding Los Angeles, as they continued to insist nothing was wrong with Gurley, and instead of the knee continuing to be an issue, it was simply McVay’s coaching that was the reason for blame, which leads to Saturday’s news.

For the first time since the Super Bowl, Rams fans seem to finally be getting some answers they’ve been patiently waiting for after reports indicated that Gurley has arthritis in his knee, which would make sense as to why he was limited in the playoffs.

From a talent perspective, Gurley has proven to be one of the top running backs in the NFL over the last couple of seasons, and the 40 trips into the end zone are just one of many reasons to back that statement up, but whether Los Angeles admits it or not, this is concerning.

Only time will tell when it comes to seeing if Gurley has what it takes to return to his normal self after the news surrounding the arthritis, but if the Rams were looking for insurance from this weekend’s combine, here are five running backs who may deserve consideration.
