8. Detroit Lions: Mississippi State Defensive End Montez Sweat

Originally, the plan surrounding the Detroit Lions was to have Matt Patricia help this team return to the level of being a playoff contender after taking over as head coach, which obviously was far from the case in 2018.

The good news for the Lions is now that Patricia has a year of head-coaching experience under his belt, the results will hopefully be better in 2019, or questions will begin to emerge over whether he’s the right fit at head coach.

At least with a top-10 draft pick, Detroit will have plenty of options to consider at No. 8 to help put them in better position to compete during next season, especially on the defensive side of the football.

During the combine, Montez Sweat was considered one of the big winners thanks to displaying his talents in numerous ways, but watching him set the record for defensive lineman with the 40-yard dash (4.41) is one of the things that stood out the most.

If Sweat was looking to make sure his draft stock would be on the rise after Indianapolis, the Mississippi State star certainly did so since early signs point to him going in the top 10, whether it’s with the Lions or a different team.
