Los Angeles Rams: 15 best free agent acquisitions of all-time
By Dan Parzych
Remember the days when Marc Bulger was considered the better option at quarterback for the Rams over Kurt Warner? It’s crazy how quickly things can change in the NFL.
While Warner would obviously end up with the better overall career since he’s in the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a reason, there was a time in which Bulger was pretty popular.
Following brief stints with the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons in 2000, Bulger would go on to eventually sign with the Rams that year. However, he wouldn’t see his first action until a few years later in 2002.
Due to injuries involving Kurt Warner and Jamie Martin, Bulger would eventually take over the starting job under center. He helped St. Louis turn around a poor start by going 6-1 before suffering an injury of his own.
Even though he would return to being a backup to Warner in 2003, Bulger would once again end up taking over the quarterback duties on offense. He would go on to have a Pro Bowl year consisting of a 12-3 record to go along with 22 touchdown passes.
While St. Louis could have gone without the league-leading 22 interceptions that season, at least Bulger helped make a case to be the starter for the Rams moving forward. The team would go on to release Warner the following offseason.
