1. Fresh start could work wonders for both parties

Never in a million years could Bortles have imagined he would be in this situation around this time last year since Jacksonville finally seemed convinced the quarterback was the answer for the long run, which obviously is no longer the case.

With all due respect to Bortles as a quarterback, the former first-round pick is nowhere near the same level as Foles, and it’s not even worth a debate since it’s not even close.

A team like the Jaguars arguably gave Bortles way too many chances to prove himself as a starter than he deserved, but just because things failed to work out for the best in Jacksonville doesn’t mean a fresh start somewhere else won’t help him out.

Could that next destination be Los Angeles as the new backup quarterback for the Rams? At the moment, this whole scenario sounds like an absolute long shot since the argument can even be made that Bortles could compete for the starting job on a few other teams at the moment.

However, if Bortles were looking for an opportunity to join a serious contender while learning from one of the best coaches the NFL has to offer in McVay, this could be one of those situations in which both parties benefit in the best way possible.
