3 reasons Rams should be thrilled over Earl Thomas leaving NFC West
By Dan Parzych
1. Thomas arguably irreplaceable
One of a kind safety doesn’t even begin to describe Thomas as a player, and while the Seahawks had plenty of time to prepare for his departure to the Ravens, it’s still going to be difficult for the team to fill the void left on defense.
Of course, any struggles Seattle deals with trying to fill that void gives Los Angeles an extra advantage because if the Seahawks never found a player on the same level as Thomas, the Rams wouldn’t be disappointed one bit.
This time of year can always be difficult for teams when it comes to key players ending up elsewhere, and while Los Angeles has already dealt with a few losses of their own, with Rodger Saffold immediately coming to mind.
With all due respect to Saffold, the offensive lineman has been a key member for the Rams over the years, but as far as value is concerned, he’s nowhere near the level of what Thomas was for the Seahawks.
A few years ago, there was a time in which Seattle had a reputation for having one of the league’s best defenses, and after dealing with some key adjustments last year, the departure of Thomas could make things even more interesting in 2019.
