3. Jacksonville wasn’t best situation for Bortles in 2018

After the Jacksonville Jaguars earned a trip to the AFC Championship during the 2017 season, Bortles seemed to be in a good position with the offense where he would end up sticking around for the long run, which obviously is no longer the case.

In his defense, Bortles was surrounded with younger talent in 2018 after the team was forced to fill voids left by Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns, so it was a little more difficult for him to find success in the passing game since no one was really stepping up on a consistent basis.

While football fans can make the debate that 2018 would have been much better on offense if Jacksonville did a better job at providing him with the necessary weapons, but all that matters is both parties can benefit from a fresh start.

Now that Nick Foles is officially on board as the new starter, the Jaguars will hopefully put their new quarterback in better position than Bortles was for the 2019 season. Otherwise, it could be a rough first season for the former Super Bowl MVP, but at least it won’t be Bortles problem if this ends up being the case, whether he’s part of the Rams or a different team.
