21. Trey Flowers
Who would have thought the Detroit Lions of all teams would be viewed as one of the big winners from free agency?
After a rough first year under head coach Matt Patricia, the Lions seem to be making the necessary moves to avoid another season of disappointment, especially on the defensive side of the football.
Since Patricia used to be the defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots, it only seems fair that he was able to convince Trey Flowers to come on board with a hefty five-year, $90 million deal that he clearly deserves.
There’s a reason why Flowers was viewed as one of the top players in free agency, and now that he’s reunited with his former defensive coordinator, one can only imagine the impact he’s going to make right away as a member of the Lions.
Competing in the NFC North is going to be anything but easy for Detroit since the other three teams are expected to be playoff contenders in 2019, even if the Chicago Bears were the only ones to make it this past season.
At least with Flowers now part of the picture, the Lions’ defense will have a better chance of keeping some of the offenses within the division in check.
