19. Atlanta Falcons
After two impressive playoff campaigns in a row, the Atlanta Falcons were considered one of the early favorites in the NFC to make another run before missing out on the postseason all together.
Sure, injuries caught up with the Falcons after Devonta Freeman missed most of the year, but also it’s tough to come up with excuses when looking at some of the talent this team has to work with, especially on offense.
While Julio Jones continues to play at a high enough level to be considered one of the league’s most dangerous receivers, it will be interesting to see how the offense adjusts without Tevin Coleman, who signed with the San Francisco 49ers once he became a free agency.
Coleman may not be up there with some of the other top running backs across the league, but he had been an unbelievable No. 2 running back over the last few seasons with the Falcons, whether it was being effective on the ground or through the air.
The good news is with Jones and Matt Ryan leading the way on offense along with Freeman hopefully returning to full strength, Atlanta will be a strong bounce-back candidate in 2019. Of course, if that’s going to happen, the defense will need to step up for the Falcons as well.
