1. Kansas City Chiefs

Without question, it was absolutely devastating to watch the Kansas City Chiefs come up short  to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship after watching this team take a major step in the right direction with Patrick Mahomes under center.

Around this time last offseason, there were some concerns over whether the Chiefs were jumping the gun in naming Mahomes the new starter over Alex Smith since the veteran was still playing at a high level, but no one is questioning the move anymore.

By winning the MVP award during his first full year as the starter, Kansas City’s offense looks like they’re going to continue being one of the best in the NFL for years to come.

The defense may need a little improvement after watching some of their performances from last season, including that AFC Championship game. But as long as Mahomes is healthy enough to run things on offense, the Chiefs are always going to be viewed as a top contender in the AFC, and will hopefully learn from last year’s experience to continue improving as a team.

Defeating the Patriots certainly won’t be easy, but the Chiefs realize they don’t have any other choice since New England is always going to be standing in their way as long as Tom Brady is around.
