The Los Angeles Rams should be keeping an eye on Russell Wilson’s contract demands from the Seattle Seahawks since Jared Goff will be looking for a new deal sooner rather than later.

From Todd Gurley to Aaron Donald, the Los Angeles Rams made plenty of big moves last offseason when it comes to contract extensions for key players to make sure some of these stars would be around for years to come.

As a result, this offseason has been a little more quiet for the Rams, although they still made a few big moves in free agency, such as re-signing Dante Fowler Jr. and convincing Eric Weddle to come on board.

With that being said, while Los Angeles didn’t have to make any major moves this offseason when it comes to big extensions, the NFC champions realize it’s only a matter of time before they have to address the Jared Goff situation.

Last week, Sean McVay made some comments in which it seemed like the Rams would be holding off on any potential talks surrounding Goff for now, but even they know this can’t be avoided forever.

Goff will be entering the final year of his rookie deal in 2019, and while Los Angeles can always take the approach of using the franchise tag down the road if needed, the smart move may be to just get the extension taken care of to avoid any future drama.

Plus, with the Seattle Seahawks facing a similar situation with Russell Wilson entering the final year of his contract as well, the Rams may find themselves in a tough situation where they have to reward Goff with a hefty new contract sooner just to keep him happy.

There have been numerous occasions over the years in which quarterbacks in the NFL always seem to use one another with contract negotiations, which is genius since it normally works, and results in quite a payday.

Wilson may be on a whole different level than Goff at the moment from an experience perspective, and the fact that he already helped Seattle bring home a Super Bowl title, but the former California star isn’t too far behind him.

Thanks to the Rams winning the NFC West title two years in a row to go along with their recent appearance in Super Bowl 53, Los Angeles is most likely already weighing out potential contract scenarios for Goff, mainly because they realize the importance of making him happy.

The fact that Goff seems to get better with experience in the NFL, and only seems to be scratching the surface of his true potential shows why Wilson’s situation with the Seahawks is worth monitoring over the next few weeks.

After Wilson reportedly gave Seattle an April 15 deadline for a new deal before the team’s voluntary offseason program begins, would anyone really be surprised if talks surrounding Goff started to heat up, assuming the Seahawks do come through for their quarterback?

Los Angeles may prefer to wait, and hold off on Goff’s next deal to focus all of the attention on the 2019 season, but even they know this situation could become unavoidable, especially if Wilson ends up breaking the bank in Seattle.
