6. Philip Rivers

Similar to Manning, the Los Angeles Chargers realize that Philip Rivers isn’t getting any younger, although the former first-round pick continues to play at a high level.

Not only did Rivers play a key role in helping the Chargers finally live up to expectations for a change last season by earning one of the Wild Card spots in the AFC, but also the veteran hasn’t missed a single start dating back to 2006, which is incredible.

As long as Rivers continues to play at a high level, and Los Angeles is viewed as a top contender in the AFC, the team isn’t going to move on from the quarterback.

So with Rivers entering the final year of his contract in 2019, the Chargers may not have a choice other than to pay their beloved quarterback the money he desires since otherwise, the team would risk having to go through some rebuilding.

With Los Angeles currently listed as a top contender in the AFC, and capable of giving the Kansas City Chiefs a run for their money in the division, the team can’t afford to take a step back by moving on from Rivers if he’s still willing to play at a high level.

Even if Rivers doesn’t receive a ridiculous long-term deal like some other quarterbacks due to his age, the Chargers will most likely still find a way to make sure he’s happy.
