3. Marcus Mariota
After Winston went No. 1 back in 2015, Marcus Mariota was selected at No. 2 by the Tennessee Titans. And while there have been times in which Mariota has looked like an absolute stud for the Titans on offense, his injuries have unfortunately been an issue as well.
The fact that Mariota only has a 27-28 record over the last four seasons shows why Tennessee is in a tough situation as well when it comes to determining what kind of contract they want to give their quarterback next, that is assuming they do want to keep him around.
Bringing in Ryan Tannehill as insurance this offseason while providing a reliable backup was a smart move by the Titans in case the injuries continue for Mariota during the 2019 season.
Of course, the preference would be that Mariora stays healthy enough to play in all 16 games for Tennessee, and Tannehill never has to step foot on the field, but unfortunately there’s no guarantee of this being the case.
At least in comparison to Winston, Mariota did help the Titans reach the playoffs during the 2017 season, and even put together a strong enough performance in which the team upset the Kansas City Chiefs in the Wild Card round.
