Round 1, Pick 31: Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson

Dexter Lawrence has played a major role on the defensive side of the football for Clemson over the last three seasons, and if there were a scenario in which the defensive tackle was still available at No. 31, this would be a no brainer for the Rams.

Los Angeles is already fortunate enough to have one of the league’s top defenders in Aaron Donald, and while it was a difficult decision to move on from Ndamukong Suh after one season, the team knows the veteran is replaceable.

A player like Lawrence may not be anywhere close to the same level as Suh, but the potential simply seems too good to pass on, whether it happens to be his impressive footwork or simply the quickness he brings to the table.

Wade Phillips has proven to be one of the best in the business with the way he helps bring out the best in his players on defense, and there’s no question the defensive coordinator would love the opportunity to work with a rookie like Lawrence.

Playing with the Tigers all these years gave Lawrence to be part of a winning program that always had high expectations, and by joining the Rams, the situation would be pretty similar for the young defender.
