Round 5, Pick 169: Connor McGovern, G/C, Penn State

Keeping the trend going with the offensive line, as mentioned in the previous slide, Los Angeles lost two key members to their offensive line in Saffold and Sullivan, but this doesn’t mean there should be concerns heading into next season.

If anything, McVay’s history of player development should make fans feel a little extra confident over their beloved head coach having some sort of effective plan for their replacements, whether it comes from current players on the roster or the upcoming draft.

Right away, one of the positive factors over selecting a player who can play guard or center like Connor McGovern is how great of a run blocker he’s proven to be after an amazing career at Penn State.

Without question, one of the main reasons behind Saquon Barkley‘s success with the Nittany Lions before making the leap to the NFL last year was due to a reliable offensive line consisting of players like McGovern.

Todd Gurley is already facing heavy pressure to get back on track after it was revealed that the Pro Bowler is dealing with arthritis in his knee, and while McGovern still has a lot to prove as far as making the transition to the NFL is concerned, the potential to start is certainly there.
