Round 4, Pick 133: Linebacker Tre Watson, Maryland

Similar to last offseason, linebacker was one of the biggest questions surrounding the Rams on defensive, mainly because the team wasn’t really sure what to expect from their current players.

Acquiring Dante Fowler Jr. in a trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars during the middle of the season certainly helped fill the need, and while it was great to see the former first-round pick agree to return on a one-year deal, who knows what to expect beyond 2019.

Not to mention, as great as it was to see the Rams convince Clay Matthews to come on board in free agency, even they know the veteran linebacker is only a short-term answer at the position.

Could Tre Watson be the kind of linebacker Los Angeles is looking for in the long run? The Maryland product certainly caught the attention of scouts during his pro day back in March, and with the Rams having a history under McVay of drafting well in the middle rounds, Watson is worth keeping an eye on as a potential prospect.

After a strong season with the Terrapins in 2018 by recording 108 total tackles to go along with five interceptions, Watson seems ready to make the transition to the NFL.
