Los Angeles Rams: 7-Round 2019 mock draft version 3.0
By Dan Parzych
Round 5, Pick 169: Offensive Tackle David Edwards, Wisconsin
Earlier it was discussed how the Rams are expected to take the safe approach in the draft by looking at all potential options with the offensive line since it never hurts to have too much depth.
In fact, if Los Angeles decided to use multiple picks to boost the offensive line, this really wouldn’t come as a surprise one bit since unlike the previous two years, there’s a little bit of uncertainty with the unit due to offseason changes.
David Edwards has a few areas in need of improvement once he makes the leap to the NFL such as hand placement, but he makes up for it in other areas like most young football players do.
Plus, just imagine the kind of competition Edwards would bring to the table for the younger guys in Allen and Noteboom to help bring out the best for the Rams on the offensive line since their increased roles would be far from a guarantee.
Protecting Jared Goff has become a huge priority for Los Angeles over the last couple of years, and even if Edwards needs a little time to develop before becoming the kind of offensive tackle the Rams need, it could be worth the wait.
