The Los Angeles Rams traded out of the first round with the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday to gain two extra picks for Friday.

Deep down, most Los Angeles Rams fans were expecting the team to trade out of the first round during the 2019 NFL Draft since there were already a handful of teams expressing interest in trading up.

So when it was revealed that Los Angeles would be trading down with the Atlanta Falcons right before being on the clock, this really wasn’t that much of a surprise to anyone at all.

Knowing the Rams, the team most likely felt confident enough in landing one of their top prospects in the second round, and while landing the No. 45 pick was already exciting, it was also great to see Los Angeles earn an additional third-round pick as well.

Even if the Rams gave up their sixth-round pick as well as part of the deal, the team now holds four picks (three in the third round) at the moment for Day 2 of the draft with plenty of great prospects to choose from.

Watching a team like Los Angeles go a third year in a row without a first-round pick would seem like a huge disadvantage, but clearly this is a non-issue with the team coming off back-to-back NFC West titles along with a recent trip to the Super Bowl.

Clearly, the Rams deserve a ton of credit for finding success in the draft without a selection in the first round, and when looking at some of their value picks over the previous two years, it should have fans even more excited about the four picks on Friday.

From adding depth to the offensive line after the unit lost a few key players this offseason to addressing their need at cornerback or linebacker on defense, Los Angeles will have plenty to choose from once the second round gets underway on Friday.

One of the best parts about this time of year is seeing the value picks that come into play for teams, and after months of evaluations, it’s safe to say the Rams have a strong idea over which players they want to add the most.

All of a sudden, Los Angeles went from two picks on Day 2 to four, and to say this gives the NFC champions an extra advantage would be a huge understatement they happen to be one of those teams that will take advantage of being in this scenario in one of the best ways possible.
