Rams should hope Greedy Williams slips to No. 45 to help future at cornerback

Greedy Williams could be a potential option for the Los Angeles Rams to consider at No. 45 in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Thanks to trading down with the Atlanta Falcons, the Los Angeles Rams will make their first selection of the 2019 NFL Draft at No. 45 with the hope of filling one of their top needs.
As far as top needs are concerned, the Rams will most likely look to add depth to the offensive line or consider a linebacker to put them in better shape at the position beyond the 2019 season.
However, if Los Angeles were to take a cornerback like Greedy Williams into consideration with their second-round pick, this would only help them in the long run since even they are unsure of how things will be once the 2020 season arrives.
At the moment, the Rams are in great shape with a solid duo at the position led by Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.
But with the team still undecided over whether Peters deserves a new contract to keep him around for the long run on top of Talib getting up their in age, it’s easy to understand why Los Angeles is expected to explore cornerback options as well in the draft.
With Williams, the LSU star happens to be one of those prospects that nobody expected to be available heading into Friday nigh since early signs pointed to the cornerback being an easy selection for the first round.
Hoping Williams slips to No. 45 to be available for the Rams sounds like a bit of a stretch, but also if Los Angeles catches a break with the teams in front of them focusing on other needs, this could work out perfect for both parties.
For Williams, the opportunity to play behind two elite cornerbacks in Peters and Talib means he would face less pressure as a rookie while learning from these two in the process to benefit his play in the long run.
Also, a young cornerback like Williams getting the opportunity to work with one of the best defensive coordinator the game has to offer in Wade Phillips, who would most likely love the chance to help develop the Tigers product.
Of course, the most important factor for this scenario to even become a possibility will come down to what happens with the 12 picks ahead of Los Angeles since with Williams originally projected to go in the first round, the Rams seem like they will need a little luck.
