Here are three reasons why Darrell Henderson will end up being the better option in the backfield for the Los Angeles Rams over C.J. Anderson.

During the offseason, the Los Angeles Rams faced a difficult decision in free agency with C.J. Anderson since as much as they wanted to bring the veteran running back for another season, they also knew from a financial perspective, this could be problematic.

Even though the Detroit Lions would go on to get a steal with Anderson on a favorable one-year deal, the Rams still feel confident in their decision, and hope things with Darrell Henderson will turn out even better.

During the 2019 NFL Draft, Los Angeles decided to use a third-round pick on the former Memphis star, and while the immediate speculation went to the rookie taking over role for Todd Gurley, there’s no reason to jump the gun just yet.

If anything, the Rams should view this situation as Henderson being an insurance policy in case Gurley’s knee continues to be an issue after looking at the struggles from the NFC Championship and Super Bowl 53.

Most importantly, if Los Angeles gets what they want in Henderson becoming a great compliment to Gurley in the backfield, this will give the Rams a solid duo at running back for years to come, although nothing is guaranteed when it comes to the NFL.
