Aaron Donald’s motivation to earn Super Bowl ring exactly what Rams need in 2019

Aaron Donald seems more motivated than ever to help the Los Angeles Rams make another run at the Super Bowl this upcoming season.

For obvious reasons, losing Super Bowl 53 the way they did to the New England Patriots was a crushing blow for the Los Angeles Rams, but it’s safe to say that when it comes to players, Aaron Donald was most likely one who felt the most frustrated with the outcome.

Throughout his career, Donald has proven to be one of the most competitive players in the NFL, and the work ethic he shows off each season for the Rams seems to be on a completely different level than most players.

Just how good is Donald? Well, keep in mind that last year marked the second offseason in a row that Donald missed all of training camp and preseason while holding out for a new contract, yet he still managed to finish 2018 with a career high 20.5 sacks.

Sometimes in sports, a player previously holding out seems to be at a disadvantage once they finally return due to failing to be in the necessary shape, but this clearly is never the case with Donald.

Even more exciting, the Rams finally agreed to a hefty extension with their defensive superstar last summer to eliminate any potential future distractions over Donald holding out again, and having him participate in offseason workouts has been incredible to watch take place.

Rightfully so, Los Angeles will enter the 2019 season as one of the early favorites in the NFC to make a run at the Super Bowl since Sean McVay is loaded with talent on both sides of the football, including Donald.

Plus, as mentioned before, the loss of Super Bowl 53 to the Patriots has left the Rams with plenty to think about over the last few months, and when hearing the motivating comments by Donald courtesy of CBS Los Angeles to return to the big game, fans have to love their chances.

"Donald told CBSLA’s Jim Hill at the team’s Media Day event he’s still “a lot angry” over losing to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII – and he plans on using that as fuel to get better.“If anything, it just motivated me more, that’s what I want, that’s what I needed, a ring on my finger,” he said. “To be that close, to be there and fall short just pushes you to work a little harder.”"

If football fans thought Donald was already one of the most motivated players in the league before, one can only imagine the terrifying new level they could see from the two-time Defensive Player of the Year in 2019.

Without question, one of the most difficult factors from the outcome of the Super Bowl is how Donald and the rest of the Los Angeles defense held New England to scoring just 13 point, but it still wasn’t enough.

The poor play of the Rams’ offense failing to score a single touchdown received a good amount of the blame for Los Angeles coming up on the losing end in Super Bowl 53, but looking back at the past isn’t going to change anything.

Instead, Rams fans should continue to be excited over what the upcoming season has in store, especially after these recent comments by Donald to show the high level of motivation the star defender seems ready to play with.
