2. Marcus Peters

Last offseason, Los Angeles pulled off a surprise move out of nowhere by acquiring Marcus Peters from the Kansas City Chiefs in a move that could be best described as a steal.

Peters was the kind of cornerback known for finding all sorts of ways to produce turnovers during his time with the Chiefs, and despite some of the maturity issues that came with the package, this seemed well worth the risk for the Rams.

Along with Peters, Los Angeles also acquired Aqib Talib in a trade with the Denver Broncos last offseason to provide the defense with a new duo at the cornerback position.

After one seasons, it’s easy to understand some of the excitement surrounding the Rams’ defense with these two heading into their second year playing together, but also both Peters and Talib have uncertain futures with their contracts expiring after the 2019 season.

While Talib is in a different situation since he’s up there in age, there has been conversation over whether Peters is worthy of a hefty new deal from Los Angeles to keep him around for the long run.

The Rams could always decide that Peters is worth the money, and the defense will be in better shape with him continuing to be around, but also with the team recently selecting David Long in the draft, a potential trade doesn’t sound like a terrible idea either.
