3. Dante Fowler Jr.

Prove-it deals are becoming more common in the NFL these days for teams that want to see whether certain players have the potential to be around for the long run before fully committing.

When it comes to the Rams, Dante Fowler Jr. is one of the players who will be looking to make a strong case for a long-term contract after agreeing to a one-year deal this offseason, which seemed like the best move for both parties.

Los Angeles knew they had nothing to lose taking a risk on Fowler leading up to last year’s trade deadline since the linebacker was a former first-round pick for a reason, and it was great to see him turn things around once coming on board.

Turns out, a fresh start on a new team like the Rams after all those disappointing years with the Jacksonville Jaguars was the best thing to happen for Fowler’s career.

Early indications point to the Rams eventually rewarding Fowler with a hefty deal later on to keep the defense in better shape at linebacker, but also they want to play it safe by making sure last season wasn’t just a one-time thing.

Assuming Fowler continues to pick up where he left off last season, Los Angeles may not wait too long to address this potential extension.
