Robert Woods has been a key member in the passing game for the Los Angeles Rams over the last two seasons.

Looking back at the 2017 offseason, there’s no question the Los Angeles Rams ended up with one of the biggest steals from free agency in Robert Woods, and it’s tough to imagine what the previous two years would have been like without him.

At the time of the Woods signing, the Rams were in desperate need of help at the wide receiver position after averaging just 14 points per game in 2016.

Woods may not have been considered a top wideout back then since his best numbers came in 2014 when he caught 65 passes for 699 yards with touchdowns, but this is no longer the case.

After a solid first season with the Rams, Woods set new career highs across the board during the 2018 season after hauling in 86 passes for 1,219 yards to go along with six touchdowns.

Without question, Woods being part of a dominant trio alongside Brandin Cooks and Cooper Kupp played a major role in his career year last season, as this certainly makes life much easier for Jared Goff under center.

Speaking of the trio at receiver, Pro Football Focus recently put together another one of their lists, this time focusing on the top wide receiver-quarterback tandems in the NFL when it comes to catchable target percentage.

Right away, one would assume that Woods and Goff would have been an easy choice for the list, but it turns out that Woods was the only member of the trio left off the list.

While Cooks (79.1 catchable target percentage) and Goff came in at No. 7 on the list, the Rams quarterback also finished at No. 1 with Kupp (84.9 catchable target percentage).

Seeing Woods fail to make the list may come as a surprise when considering his numbers from 2018, but also this clearly isn’t anything to make that big of a deal over.

Deep down, all the Rams truly care about is Woods continuing to contribute as much as possible for Los Angeles on offense to make sure they continue to have one of the top units across the league.

Plus, with Kupp showing signs of being ready to go come Week 1, just imagine what kind of season Woods is going to put together as an encore in 2019 once his beloved teammate is finally healthy again.
