The Los Angeles Rams made the easy decision on Friday to reward Sean McVay and Les Snead with the extension they clearly deserve.

Over the last couple of months, there has been plenty of talk over whether the Los Angeles Rams should pull the trigger by rewarding Sean McVay and Les Snead with contract extensions they clearly deserve.

Back in 2017, Snead and the Rams took a major gamble by making McVay the youngest head coach in NFL history after looking at the impact made with the Washington Redskins over the years.

As football fans know, the decision to hire McVay turned out to be the best thing Los Angeles could have done as a franchise when looking at the results from the previous two seasons, as the team has become a true powerhouse in the NFC.

It was one thing to win back-to-back NFC West titles, but to watch the Rams earn a trip to the Super Bowl, despite coming up short against the New England Patriots, in McVay’s second year with the team shows just how great of a decision they made.

With all this in mind, it was easy to make a case for McVay and Snead deserving extensions from Los Angeles, especially McVay since his success from the previous two years made it clear he was well underpaid in his reported five-year deal.

However, there was also the argument that the Rams could use the situation to their advantage by holding off on potential new deals for McVay and Snead, although that always comes with the risk of making them unhappy.

Turns out, right as training camp is getting underway for the defending NFC champions, the Rams decided to reward both their head coach and general manager with extensions, giving them one less thing to worry about moving forward.

Details are still coming out about the extensions, but the fact that both McVay and Snead will be under contract through the 2023 season gives Rams fans even more reasons to be excited over the future.

Los Angeles had already done an incredible job building a solid young group of players to make sure the Rams would be top contenders in the NFC for years to come, and this latest move puts them in even better position to make sure this happens.

Of course, now that McVay and Snead are taken care of, the next question surrounding the Rams will be whether Jared Goff is worthy of an extension sooner rather than later, even if he’s technically under contract through 2020.

If Los Angeles were smart, which clearly they are, taking care of Goff as soon as possible doesn’t sound like the worst idea in the world just to make sure beloved quarterback continues to remain happy.
