No one should feel bad over Sean McVay constantly having to answer questions over Todd Gurley since the Los Angeles Rams did this to themselves.

Similar to how annoying things were last summer surrounding all of the questions with Aaron Donald‘s contract situation, Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams have been seeing the same thing take place with Todd Gurley.

Ever since the Super Bowl when the Rams failed to show up against the New England Patriots on offense, it was clear that something was going on with Gurley since the Pro Bowl running back looked like anything but himself.

Normally, Gurley has been described as an absolute workhorse for Los Angeles in the backfield, whether he was needed to run with the football or simply be there for Jared Goff to drop a quick pass off to.

So when Gurley finished with just 10 rushing yards on four carries in the NFC Championship before rushing for just 35 yards on 10 carries in the Super Bowl, it was clear something was up.

To top the frustration off, instead of providing some sort of clarification over what was going on with Gurley, the Rams continued to push the narrative that everything was fine with the running back before it was revealed that his knee was the issue.

With this in mind, Los Angeles made it clear they would be taking a different approach with Gurley moving forward since the last thing the team wanted to do was overwork their beloved running back while making the situation worse.

Until Gurley actually steps foot on the field, and shows there won’t be any setbacks, his knee is going to be the popular topic of discussion.

And since the Rams seemed to dodge the topic for the most part at the beginning of the offseason, and continued to make the knee a mystery entering camp, they have no one to blame other than themselves over the constant questioning.

McVay can say whatever he want about being tired over the questions involving Gurley, but this frustration could have been avoided by addressing the topic early on in the offseason instead of making it seem like a mystery.

After coming up short the way they did in the Super Bowl, here’s to hoping the approach Los Angeles has been taking with Gurley pays off for the best to put them in better position to earn another trip to the big show, with hopefully better results.

Otherwise, it seems like McVay is only going to get more annoyed each week if the questions abou Gurley continue to be asked.
