Heading into their first preseason game against the Oakland Raiders, the Los Angeles Rams should be thrilled over no setbacks for Todd Gurley.

Ever since the Super Bowl came to an end in February, the most popular topic surrounding the Los Angeles Rams has been what is going on with Todd Gurley‘s knee.

While the Rams continue to make it seem like the issue is anything but the arthritis that was reported a few months back, the team has been cautious over Gurley by giving their beloved running back a specific workout this offseason.

Take a look at this week for instance when Gurley looked sharp on Wednesday in the team’s first joint practice with the Oakland Raiders, and is scheduled to be off on Thursday, showing how much of an effort Los Angeles is making towards their beloved running back.

Time will tell when it comes to seeing how Gurley will actually look come September, but unfortunately if he shows similar signs to last winter, the Rams could be in trouble.

Until then, all Los Angeles can do is continue to monitor the status of Gurley over these next couple of weeks to make sure he’s in the best position possible to suit up for that Week 1 meeting with the Carolina Panthers.

On a positive note, Rams fans should feel somewhat better about this difficult situation after hearing Sean McVay update reporters this week over how there hasn’t been any sort of setbacks with Gurley.

But also, just because McVay is feeling confident about the progress at the moment doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be smooth sailing moving forward since Gurley still has plenty to prove over the next month.

As mentioned before, it seems like the only way Rams fans are truly going to feel confident about this situation with Gurley is if he goes on the field, and shows there are no complications.

And since the chances of Gurley seeing significant action in preseason are extremely slim for safety precautions, Rams fans may not have a choice other than to wait it out until Week 1 in September.

So for now, here’s to hoping that Gurley’s progress continues to remain positive over these next few weeks, and the Rams star running back avoids any sort of setbacks to help the team earn another trip to the Super Bowl.
