3. Dakota Allen
Heading into the draft in April, linebacker was one of the areas that Los Angeles was expected to focus on, and with their final pick of the draft, the team decided to select Texas Tech’s Dakota Allen.

While Allen seemed to be at a disadvantage due to all of the competition at linebacker, one of the main reasons why the Rams were so interested was due to his ability to possibly contribute on special teams as well.
But now that Kiser is going to miss a significant amount of time, Allen has the opportunity to make a case for playing more time as a rookie to show Los Angeles did in fact make the right decision back in April by bringing him on board.
Over the years, the Rams have established a reputation for being one of those teams who did an amazing job at doing their homework for the draft, and it should be noted they never would have used a pick on Allen if the team didn’t see some sort of potential.
Even if the original plan was to have Allen contribute more in the long run, Kiser’s injury now puts the rookie in better position to potentially make more of an impact right away.
Long shot or not, it will be interesting to follow Allen during the final two weeks of preseason before the real action begins in September.
