2. Dakota Allen

During the 2019 NFL Draft when Los Angeles was in need of help at the linebacker position, the team had nothing to lose by using a seventh-round pick on Dakota Allen.

And despite the chances of the linebacker seeing little action on the field during his rookie campaign, this seemed like more of a long-term investment for the Rams to provide Allen with some time to develop before eventually finding some sort of role on defense.

Turns out, Los Angeles had different plans with the young linebacker after Allen turned out be one of the surprise cuts from Saturday, mainly because the Rams will never know exactly what kind of impact he would have made in an actual game.

Once again, as bad as it sounds to say, this is another move that Los Angeles could afford to make since Allen was already deep on the depth chart, and a long shot to see any sort of significant playing time in 2019 with all of the tough competition in front of him.

Then again, the argument can also be made that with the injury to Micah Kiser from preseason, Allen seemed to be in a good position to compete for surprise playing time, which makes this even more surprising.
