1. Potential future distractions eliminated

Since most of the key players for Los Angeles on offense were already locked up for the long run, it seemed like only a matter of time before the Rams did the same for Goff.

To put all that effort in locking up other stars such as Todd Gurley and Brandin Cooks only to make Goff wait it out seemed ridiculous to even think about, which is why most Rams fans felt confident enough in a deal getting done sooner rather than later.

By taking care of the situation before the Rams even kick off their first official game of 2019 against the Panthers, Los Angeles doesn’t have to worry about any potential distractions over the next few months since this happens all the time in sports.

Even if Goff continued to make it clear that he felt confident in a deal getting done, the topic still would have been brought up numerous times over the next couple of months.

Now, the Rams can focus on what matters the most for every member of the team, which is doing whatever it takes to earn another trip to the Super Bowl.

One can only imagine how tough the last few months have been for Goff and most of his teammates wondering what could have been last February, but also at least this can be used as motivation for better results this upcoming season.
