2. Dante Fowler

Leading up to the trade deadline last season, the Rams knew they had nothing to lose by acquiring Dante Fowler from the Jacksonville Jaguars to give them an extra weapon to work with at the linebacker position.

Despite how things played out in Jacksonville, Fowler seemed like the kind of player that just needed a fresh start on a new team.

And while Fowler’s numbers didn’t necessarily stand out like some of the other top linebackers across the league once he came to Los Angeles, they were still good enough to earn a hefty one-year deal from the team during the offseason.

Like most teams do with players looking for long-term contracts, the Rams hope to see Fowler use his one-year deal as motivation to play at a higher level in 2019 to convince the team he would be worth keeping around for the long run.

The fact that Fowler was able to benefit from Donald receiving extra attention from the Carolina Panthers in Week 1 to work his way into finishing with two sacks shows it may not take much more convincing for the Rams to realize keeping him around beyond 2019 would be wise.

Fowler still has plenty to prove over the next few months, but if that first game against the Panthers is any sign of what 2019 has in store, Los Angeles is going to be in great shape.
