3. Gurley held to less than 50 rushing yards

For months, the one story that just wouldn’t go away for the Rams was whether Todd Gurley would be able to return to his usual ways at running back, or if it would be time to hit the panic button.

Normally, Gurley has always been known to be a workhorse in the backfield for Los Angeles, and made plenty of fantasy football owners quite happy with his weekly performances.

But after watching Gurley struggle the way he did in the NFC Championship and Super Bowl, it was clear that something was going on with the Rams star running back.

Early on in the offseason, Los Angeles indicated they would be taking a different approach with Gurley in the backfield to avoid making his knee situation worse, which was part of the reason he only received 14 carries in Week 1.

Just when it seemed like Gurley’s knee was still going to be an issue based off his first half of play, the former Georgia star found a way to finish on a strong note, and ended up with 97 rushing yards total against the Panthers.

As for what to expect from the Saints, well let’s just say this could end up being one of those weeks in which Gurley takes a step back.

Keeping Gurley in check would certainly give New Orleans a major advantage on defense, and put extra pressure on Jared Goff in the passing game, so don’t be surprised if the Saints end up winning this particular battle.
