6. Malcolm Brown

How thrilled were the Rams after Week 1 over their decision from the offseason to match Brown’s offer from the Detroit Lions?

Over the last couple of years, Brown has always been considered a reliable No. 2 running back, but unfortunately between Gurley’s heavy workload on top of a few injuries, he never really received the proper opportunities to shine.

Since Los Angeles made it clear during the offseason they would be taking a different approach with Gurley in 2019 by lightening his workload, this seemed like the perfect opportunity for Brown to take on a larger role.

Even though Brown still has a long way to go when it comes to proving himself, it was amazing to watch him find the end zone twice in the win over the Panthers while rushing for 53 yards on 11 carries as well.

With more performances like this from Brown, including Sunday’s game against the Saints, the Rams will feel much better about their situation at running back since Gurley won’t be able to handle his normal workload from previous seasons.

From a fantasy football perspective, Brown may seem like somewhat of a risk since he’s technically the No. 2 running back behind Gurley, but Week 1 is the perfect example of the reward that could come with the decision.
