12. Detroit Lions

After missing out on a golden opportunity to defeat the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1, the Detroit Lions bounced back by making a strong statement on Sunday by defeating the Los Angeles Chargers 13-10.

By taking advantage of numerous mistakes by the Chargers, the Lions were able to hang on for the win to show this team may actually have what it takes to compete for a playoff spot in 2019, although they still have plenty to prove moving forward.

There aren’t going to be many games in which Detroit still finishes on the winning end despite only scoring 13 points, but the defense deserves plenty of credit for applying all sorts of pressure to Philip Rivers and Los Angeles throughout this contest.

Matt Patricia took plenty of heat during his first year as head coach with the Lions in 2018 since the team failed to live up to expectations, and thanks to a strong offseason consisting of numerous additions, Detroit already seems to be turning things around.

Sure, there were a few concerns after settling for the tie in Week 1 to Arizona since this should have been an easy win for Detroit after building up a comfortable lead, but at least the win over Los Angeles helps make up for what happened.
