After Jay Gruden was let go by the Washington Redskins on Monday, would Sean McVay and the Los Angeles Rams ever consider adding him to the coaching staff?
Even though the Washington Redskins firing Jay Gruden on Monday didn’t directly impact the Los Angeles Rams, it’s tough not to wonder what could have been since Sean McVay used to be part of his coaching staff.
With the Redskins entering Week 6 still in search of their first win, football fans haven’t been shy to point out that McVay, Kyle Shanahan, and Matt LaFleur all previously worked under Gruden at some point in Washington.
In other words, Redskins fans can only imagine how different things could be if the organization decided to go with one of these guys at some point over Gruden, but unfortunately there’s nothing they can do about it anymore.
As for what the future holds for Gruden, it seems like only a matter of time before the former Redskins head coach is back on his feet with a new gig, even if it takes a little extra time.
But after hearing comments by McVay in which he discussed the possibility of bringing Gruden on board, could a reunion potentially be in the works?
First off, Rams fans remember well that it was McVay’s time in Washington under Gruden that played a key role in Los Angeles hiring their beloved head coach back in 2017.
In other words, the organization will forever be grateful towards the Redskins for this factor alone since McVay has built this team to compete for years to come.
Convincing Gruden to join McVay’s staff may sound like a long shot at the moment, but when taking a few factors into consideration, the move actually makes sense, and here are three reasons as to why.
