1. Previous success between McVay and Gruden

No matter what the future holds for Gruden, as mentioned before, Rams fans will always appreciate the former Redskins head coach for helping pave the way for McVay getting the job in Los Angeles back in 2017.

Originally, the Rams seemed like they would need a year or two before they could even be considered to be part of the playoff conversation, but obviously this was far from the case.

In three seasons as offensive coordinator for the Redskins from 2014-16 after holding previous roles with the team since 2010, McVay played a big part in helping Kirk Cousins elevate his game to a new level along with the team winning the division in 2015.

One can only imagine how the last few seasons would have been in Washington on offense if McVay were still around, but at least for the Rams, if Gruden were to reunite with his friend by joining the coaching staff, this seems like it would work out great for all parties involved.

McVay’s time in Washington under Gruden alone is the perfect example of how great a move like this could be, and with the Rams already facing heavy pressure to return to the Super Bowl, this could only help their chances.
