Los Angeles Rams: 3 trade targets from Dallas Cowboys before 2019 deadline
By Dan Parzych
1. Byron Jones
Over the first couple of games during the 2019 season, the Rams received all sorts of high praise for how impressive the passing defense looked led by the duo of Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.
But with the unit struggling in key games against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks, the passing defense is all of a sudden a concern for Los Angeles moving forward.
With both Peters and Talib currently in the final years of their contracts, it’s only a matter of time before the Rams will need to eventually decide if either of these players will be worth keeping around beyond 2019.
Obviously, it wouldn’t make sense for Los Angeles to give up on either of these players at this point since there’s every reason to believe they can get back on the right track, but adding an extra cornerback could be helpful.
During the 2018 season Byron Jones played well enough to earn Pro Bowl honors for the first time, providing another example of why the cornerback was worth a first-round selection back in 2015.
Of course, the Cowboys realize that Jones playing at a high level could result in the Connecticut product searching for a hefty deal this offseason once his contract is up, meaning if Dallas didn’t want to pay, it may not hurt to attempt getting something in return while they can.
