2. Goff’s numbers were horrendous

Goff was already facing heavy pressure entering Sunday’s game due to the fact that he previously threw 117 passes over the last two games for the Rams, but no one expected his performance to be this bad.

Not only did Goff fail to record a single touchdown pass in the loss to the 49ers, but the former No. 1 pick threw for just 78 yards on 13 of 24 passing.

Looking at all of the weapons Goff has to work with in the passing game, how on earth did this happen for the Rams quarterback?

Even if San Francisco’s defense has been one of the biggest surprises of 2019 with their stellar play, a quarterback like Goff should be able to throw for more than 78 yards with that many completions (3.3 yards per pass).

From losing Joseph Noteboom to an injury that resulted in more struggles from the offensive line to Todd Gurley missing the game due to a quad injury, Goff does deserve some benefit of the doubt for struggling the way he did on Sunday.

Then again, when looking at all of the money invested in Goff back in September, some will also make the case these kind of numbers are unacceptable, no matter who the opponent.
