The Los Angeles Rams may need to rely on Darrell Henderson more for Week 7 against the Atlanta Falcons.

All season, Los Angeles Rams fans have patiently been waiting for Darrell Henderson to finally put together a breakout game, and when looking at a few factors heading into Week 7, it could end up happening against the Atlanta Falcons.

Even though running back wasn’t one of their top needs back in the draft, the Rams felt confident enough in using a third rounder on Henderson to provide Sean McVay with another weapon to work with on offense.

Not to mention, with all of the uncertainty surrounding Todd Gurley‘s knee after the NFC Championship and Super Bowl, the addition of Henderson seemed like it would take off some of the extra pressure in the backfield.

Instead, Henderson only has seven carries to his name for a grand total of 39 rushing yards heading into this weekend’s meeting with the Falcons, leaving plenty of confusion over why McVay hasn’t been willing to use the rookie more on offense.

Since Los Angeles made it clear early on in the offseason they would be taking a different approach with Gurley in 2019 to avoid overworking the Pro Bowler, Henderson seemed like he would be in for a heavy workload as a rookie along with Malcolm Brown.

With that being said, Week 7 could be another opportunity in which Henderson receivesmore action than usual since the Rams are dealing with some issues in the injury department.

While it’s great to hear that Gurley is expected to play against the Falcons, Brown being doubtful is the last thing Los Angeles wants to be dealing with since the ground game has struggled so far for the most part.

But at least if Brown is unable to go, Henderson will be there ready hoping to take advantage of the situation as the No. 2 running back behind Gurley.

Clearly, Los Angeles believes Henderson has potential to play a significant role on offense after rushing for 1,909 yards to go along with 22 touchdowns during his final year at Memphis.

And even though the first two months of Henderson’s NFL career have been a disappointment, Sunday seems like the perfect opportunity for the rookie to finally get on track.
